Session ID#: 14008

Session Description:
Forests and plantations in the tropical and sub-tropical zones play an important role in regional and global carbon cycle. In this session we highlight recent progress in our capacity in remote sensing of forests and plantations in tropical and subtropical zones, and our understanding of spatial-temporal dynamics of forests and plantations in the tropical and subtropical zones. We welcome contributions that use remote sensing (e.g., optical, synthetic aperture radar, LiDAR) to address the following topics such as (1) area and spatial distribution of forests and plantations, (2) carbon fluxes of forests and plantations, and (3) carbon stock (aboveground biomass) of forests and plantations. We also welcome contributions that combine both remote sensing and models to estimate carbon fluxes and stocks of forests and plantations.
