Session Description:
The science done by many of the disciplines represented in AGU has direct or indirect application to the health and well being of human populations worldwide. Helping foster new collaborations between the geosciences and health sciences is a key opportunity for AGU to enhance its impact well beyond the earth/planetary sciences, and to learn from scientists from other disciplines with whom our scientists have not frequently cooperated. This session will highlight innovative transdisciplinary research on diverse linkages between earth/planetary processes and human health, such as geogenic toxicants, environmental controls on emerging contaminants and pathogens, and the environmental health impacts of disasters.  Presenters will include both geoscientists and health scientists. The session will provide a unique perspective on the state of and future opportunities for transdisciplinary geohealth science.
