Session Description:
Despite emergence of information about climate and weather hazards, many individuals remain largely unprepared for the risks ahead. The consequences of this behavior are compounding across all human and natural systems. There is growing research that the methods used to close this gap cannot be the same as those that generated it. Instead, there is a need for a new methodology that integrates social and behavioral sciences within the context of climate preparedness and response. We seek abstracts in weather and hydrological forecasting, behavioral economics, ecosystem services, resilience, system dynamics, communications research, decision-making, risk perception, evaluations and assessments, urban planning, disaster management, and science policy that contribute tools for building national preparedness.
