OS51A:
Biogeochemistry and Ecosystems of Tropical Pacific and Upwelling Systems II Posters

Submit an Abstract to this Session Please know the abstract submission deadline has passed. There are no exceptions to this deadline and no new abstracts can be submitted.
You can still search the program to see your colleagues abstract submissions as well as the sessions submitted for the 2016 Fall Meeting. The final program will be released in early October.

Session ID#: 15047

Session Description:
The tropical Pacific is one of the major high nutrient, low chlorophyll provinces, a site of significant upwelling and the largest oceanic source of CO2 to the atmosphere. The physics and biogeochemistry of the system are perturbed across the broadest possible range of time and space scales by processes including diurnal heating, Kelvin waves, tropical instability waves, ENSO and decadal modes of variability.  This session solicits presentations on biogeochemical processes in the tropical Pacific. Phenomena of interest include but are not limited to: elemental fluxes, primary productivity, ecosystem dynamics including fisheries, export fluxes to the deep ocean and air-sea gas exchange. Submissions from both an observational and modeling perspective are welcome. This session is timely because the tropical Pacific observing system is undergoing a redesign (tpos2020.org). This session might help the community identify important parameters and scales to observe, leading to the next generation of data sets and models.
