Microbial Geochemistry and Geomicrobiology: From DNA to Rock II

Session Description:
Over the past two decades, the fields of microbial geochemistry and geomicrobiology have extensively progressed, leading to the development of interdisciplinary methods to understand chemical, biological andgeological processes.

The Critical Zone is an environment where rock, soil, water, air, and living organisms interact and shape the Earth's surface. Critical Zone microorganisms directly impact biogeochemical cycles (e.g., C, S, N, P, Fe) from the micro-scale to the global scale and over daily to geological timescales. For this session, we invite contributions concerning cycling of organic matter, nutrients or contaminants, plant-microbe interactions, microbial diversity and function and other biological-geological processes in the critical zone. We particularly encourage submission of work that involves innovative methods including isotopic, omics or modeling approaches providing insights into the evolution of biogeochemical processes in space and time.

Contributions of laboratory, field-based, theoretical and modeling approaches that can be used to better constrain biogeochemical processes are welcome.
