Full Geomagnetic Field Variation in the Past: New Palaeomagnetic Data from Archaeological Artifacts, Lava Flows, and Sedimentary Records I

Session Description:
Reconstructing the Secular Variation path of the Earth's magnetic field in the past is very important to investigate periods with rapid geomagnetic field variations and to better understand the dynamics of the geodynamo behavior. In this session, we invite contributions focused on the acquisition of new directional and archaeointensity palaeomagnetic data, including archaeomagnetic, lava flows and sedimentary records. Particular interest will be given on the acquisition of data for time periods poorly covered by data and geographic areas with scarce records. Papers regarding advances on measurement techniques, analysis and interpretation of palaeo- and archaeo-magnetic data and their use in geomagnetic field modeling are also highly welcomed.
