Session ID#: 15998
Session Description:
Although the nature of oceanic crust has been studied for decades, significant gaps remain in our ability to characterize crustal structure based on spreading rate, age, and region. The intent of this session is to host a compilation of research on the nature of oceanic crust across the full range of crustal ages and spreading rates incorporating geophysical, drilling and dredge or submersible sample data. We hope to attract work from various crustal ages and spreading rates, as well as data types, so that we might begin to build a systematic characterization of crustal geophysical properties. We encourage submissions focused on topics such as layer 2 and 3, lower crustal dipping reflectors (LCDRs), abyssal hill spacing, deep crustal structure, and crustal thickness.
