Session Description:
Atmospheric aerosols influence the Earth's biogeochemical cycles and climate in many important ways. Once emitted, aerosols are exposed to reactive gases and their chemical and physical properties are modified in the transport. The aging of aerosols affects not only their hygroscopic and optical properties, but also bioavailability as nutrient supply to terrestrial and marine ecosystems. This session invites all aspects of aerosol emissions, transformation, and deposition and impacts on global and regional biogeochemical cycles and feedback to climate. Topics may include, but are not limited to, recent advancements in characterization of aerosol bioavailability and quantification of biogeochemical responses to anthropogenic perturbations and dust emission changes. We also invite topics on organic emissions from forests, oceans and biomass burning, and seek papers describing recent progress on isotope analysis as a tracer of emission sources. Field observations, laboratory investigations and multi-scale modeling from process-scale to Earth System models are encouraged to present.
