Session ID#: 16113
Session Description:
An understanding of the effects of changing atmospheric composition on the evolution of the stratospheric ozone layer and on the Earth’s climate system requires long-term high quality observations (ground-based, suborbital, and space-based) together with comprehensive modeling analyses. This session will focus in part on the measurements of chemical composition, particles, and related meteorology from the free troposphere through the stratosphere as well as on details about the measurement systems and approaches (ground networks, balloons, aircraft, and satellites). Presentations on the integration of these measurements for detecting changes and trends in atmospheric composition, understanding their impacts on the stratosphere and troposphere, and establishing scientific links and feedbacks between climate change and atmospheric composition are especially encouraged. An additional focus of this session is on modeling analyses of past and present trends in composition and their uncertainties in order to provide the context for projecting future chemistry-climate interactions.
