Session ID#: 16145
Session Description:
This session aims to bring together recent studies in regional and global data assimilation (DA) and inverse modeling of the sources and sinks of trace gases and aerosols. We welcome contributions related to: a) advances in variational and ensemble methods to estimate emissions as well as to integrate observations at diverse spatial and temporal scales; b) applications of DA systems in studies related to air quality, biogeochemistry, and weather/chemistry interactions; c) characterization of model and observation errors and reconciliation of top-down and bottom-up estimates; d) more efficient algorithms including deterministic, ensemble, and hybrid approaches to DA, inversion, and sensitivity analysis; and e) transition to operations of these tools.
