Role of Cloud Physics in Understanding Links between Aerosols, Clouds, Radiation, and Precipitation I

Session Description:
The interplay among aerosols, clouds, radiation, and precipitation still poses a large source of uncertainty on our understanding of the climate system. Much of this uncertainty stems from insufficient knowledge of the cloud microphysical processes that connect these atmospheric elements. More recent developments in observational and modeling tools provide an improved capability to study the linkages among aerosols, clouds and precipitation at the cloud microphysics process scale. This session focuses on isolating and understanding the primary cloud physics processes, and their interplay, that drive changes in cloud characteristics. We invite presentations involving observational, laboratory and modeling studies of cloud microphysical processes and how these relate to aerosols, cloud microphysical and radiative properties, and/or precipitation.
