MR43A:
Sedimentary Rock Response and Failure I

Submit an Abstract to this Session Please know the abstract submission deadline has passed. There are no exceptions to this deadline and no new abstracts can be submitted.
You can still search the program to see your colleagues abstract submissions as well as the sessions submitted for the 2016 Fall Meeting. The final program will be released in early October.

Session ID#: 16444

Session Description:
Response to changing subsurface conditions and failure of sedimentary rocks are topics of great importance as society continues to exploit the subsurface for carbon management, oil and gas, waste disposal (nuclear and conventional), etc. Rock response and failure are affected by many factors, such as pore fluid, fluid chemistry, stress state, etc. Because basic mechanics forms the foundation for almost all investigations into and models of the subsurface, we seek submissions on fundamental behaviors (elastic/plastic response, creep, localization, fracture, permeability evolution, etc.) of rocks at all time and length scales, with and without pore fluids. We encourage submissions from theoretical, numerical, laboratory, and field studies.
