Integrating Multiple Geo-observables to Robustly Constrain Crust and Uppermost Mantle Structure and Dynamics at Global and Continental Scales III

Session Description:
Global lithosphere-uppermost mantle models based on different geo-observables often lead to differing images of the Earth. Established methods of seismic tomography, gravity, topography, EM and geodynamic modelling constrain physical properties, dependent upon temperature and composition within the Earth; theoretical and experimental petrology, geochemistry and mineral physics provide a basis to study in-situ properties of rocks from atomic to centimetric scales. The availability of high-resolution global geophysical datasets (terrestrial and satellite) combined with new computational petrology methods and laboratory studies offers an excellent opportunity to consistently image lithospheric structure and dynamic evolution. Modelling and interpreting multiple datasets enables multifaceted imaging of the thermochemical structure and dynamic state of the Earth; however, linking crust and upper mantle structure with geodynamic models at a global scale remains challenging.

We invite contributions focusing on crust and uppermost mantle properties and dynamic state from all solid Earth science disciplines at a global and continental scales.
