Advanced Information Systems to Support Climate Projection Data Analysis II

Session Description:
Climate data analysis is being applied to a large number of diverse activities, including climate model intercomparisons, observing system simulation experiments, field campaigns, and the fundamental understanding of rapid climate change. Observation data of the Earth is growing at a tremendous rate, and these data are being used for extremely high-resolution simulations resulting in unprecedented volumes of data. Given the volume, velocity, veracity and variety now required to answer critical scientific questions, data consumers are no longer able to easily download data for analysis. New and emerging information systems designed for large-scale climate data analysis is now required to enable fundamental scientific exploration across these large and diverse data sets.
