Session ID#: 17392

Session Description:
Tropical climate changes during the Late Pleistocene and Holocene are manifested as dramatic reorganizations of rainfall patterns, in contrast to the dramatic temperature swings in the higher latitudes. Despite the increasing availability of tropical paleoclimate records and model simulations, the physical mechanisms driving these changes are still unclear. We invite contributions exploring the hydrological and monsoonal changes on decadal-to-glacial timescales since the Late Pleistocene by natural archive data, new proxies, and simulation methods to reconstruct precipitation change from local to regional scales in the tropics and their global links. We particularly welcome proxy-model syntheses exploring physical mechanisms.
