Session Description:
The East Antarctic Ice Sheet is the largest volumetric component of Earth’s cryosphere and it plays an integral role in Earth’s climatic and oceanographic systems, as well as global sea levels.  Studies of its behavior in times of warmer temperatures, especially periods with higher CO2, provide critical context for numerical models used to predict future ice sheet response to changing climate. The aim of this session is to bring together researchers whose investigations range from onshore to offshore, observational to modeling, and paleo to modern studies of the East Antarctic Ice Sheet. This holistic view emphasizes a multidisciplinary-based approach to better understand controls of ice sheet dynamics from studies of both modern and past observations.  Studies from far-field sites that implicate the East Antarctic ice sheet are also welcomed.
