V11E:
Oceanic Arcs and the Evolution of Crust: Results from IODP Expeditions to the Izu-Ogasawara-Mariana Arc System and Other Advances from Pacific Island Arcs I

Session ID#: 18140

Session Description:
Several expeditions to Pacific subduction systems have taken place over the past few years. Examples include the IODP Expeditions 350, 351 and 352, which explored the northern IBM (Izu-Ogasawara-Mariana) system, and the GeoPRISMS-related expeditions to the Aleutian Islands. Now is the time for early results to be presented and for discussions to occur between the scientific teams working in these diverse systems.  Studies exploring petrology, geochemistry, geophysics, geochronology, and geodynamics of these regions are welcome. Also welcome are explorations of the links between oceanic island arcs and the development of continental crust.
