Global Hydrological Extremes: From Intense Rainfall to Flash Flood III Posters

Session Description:
Intense rainfall and flash floods are two extreme hydrological events that pose significant challenges to sustainable development around the world. The aim of this session is to provide a unique opportunity for interdisciplinary exchange of ideas and experiences among atmospheric-hydrological researchers, modelers and decision makers. The session welcomes contributions on the development of novel methodologies/models, case studies, remote sensing and monitoring approaches exploring the following topics:

-Addressing past, present and prospective changes in intense rainfall and floods under environmental changes (global warming, land use change, etc.)

-Computing nonstationarity, spatial patterns and variability, and predicting these events over short- to long-term periods, from catchment to regional and continental scales

-Developing models, hypothesis testing and diagnostics to quantify uncertainty/error in intense rainfall and flood prediction

- Constructing case studies of regional hydrological analysis in climate sensitive and flood prone regions worldwide

-Assessing the risk and socio-economics consequences of these extremes
