Geochemical signatures of Earth’s dynamic evolution

Session Description:
Earth’s dynamic evolution is recorded by the chemistry of Earth materials. This session aims to showcase new geochemical constraints on the long-term evolution of the solid Earth based on the major element, trace element, and isotopic compositions of rocks, minerals, and fluids. Geochemical results of interest to the broader deep Earth community are encouraged, and potential topics include: the origins, evolution, and preservation of mantle heterogeneity (including short-lived radiogenic signatures); constraints on the dynamics of mantle mixing in early Earth regimes and the plate tectonic regime; deep mantle structure and geochemical connections to deep mantle structure; transport and distribution of volatiles in the Earth; and signatures of core formation and magma ocean crystallization. Complementary contributions from allied disciplines are encouraged to promote an interdisciplinary session.
