Use of Unmanned Aerial Systems in Atmospheric Science II Posters

Session Description:
Unmanned aerial systems (UAS) are significantly expanding observational perspectives in atmospheric science. With rapid growth in the variety of both platform and UAS applications, the opportunity for these platforms to provide high-quality atmospheric measurements continues to expand. Evidence of this momentum are provided by the large number of recent community workshops held by various agencies supporting atmospheric science (NOAA, NASA, DOE, NSF/NCAR) and the continued growth of the international society supporting such research (ISARRA). The measurements provided by these platforms are essential for contributing scientifically significant datasets to address fundamental research questions in meteorology, enhancing the operational observational network, and informing weather and climate models. This session will provide a forum for presenting up-to-date results on UAS-based research along these lines. Specific topics of interest include updates on recent campaigns, instrumentation and facilities and modeling efforts that integrate UAS-based measurements or evaluate their effectiveness.
