Tides and rivers – estuaries and deltas

Session Description:
The effects that tides exert on rivers can be observed from space but also from under a microscope and includes small scale turbulent features, bedforms, and large scale channel patterns. Understanding the feedbacks between rivers and tides is tremendously important for global geochemical cycles, coastal change, and coastal hazards. In this session we aim to bring together the scientific communities that focus on the hydrology, morphology, and oceanography of estuaries and deltas. We welcome field, experiments, and modeling efforts aimed at describing, understanding, or predicting the dynamics of tidally influenced rivers and their sedimentary products.
