Landslide Dynamics: Hazard and Risk Assessment, Triggering, Modeling, in Situ Observations, and Remote Sensing IV Posters

Session Description:
Landslides occur across the globe's mountainous regions and in areas of even modest relief. Each year they impact communities at local to regional scales causing thousands of deaths and damage to the built and natural environments. This session will explore the multi-faceted topic of landslide mobility and hazard assessment, from extremely rapid to extremely slow events, through physical, statistical, and empirical approaches. This session will also address the major triggering factors, failure mechanisms and controlling parameters, through geological and topographical, geohydrological, geophysical and seismicity. The dimensions of vulnerability and risk will also be explored through the use of remotely sensed, field-based, and in-situ investigations. The session will explore the state of the art as well as recent, advanced findings in research on the dynamics of landslides. Presentations may concentrate on observation and mapping, numerical simulation, uncertainty and quality assessment, and field or lab experiments.
