Session ID#: 23934
Session Description:
Paleoenvironmental change on various time and spatial scales shaped the human evolutionary lineage. Knowledge of this change relies on an array of geological, geochemical and geophysical pursuits, such as interpreting depositional processes, dating sequences, and reconstructing ecosystem community structure. In combination these data are used to contextualize fossil and archaeological records, and allow us to interrelate localities and assess the impacts of paleoclimatic events on evolution. The intent of this session is to gather an interdisciplinary community working on the origins of humans and our ancestors. We solicit new data, innovative methods, and emerging case studies that examine hominin and primate evolution using paleontology, geochronology, stratigraphy, and all related disciplines.
