Session Description:
The Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) and constellation satellite system provide real-time data related to land, ocean, atmosphere, cryosphere and vegetation cover and meteorological parameters at different altitudes. These data are being used in monitoring, early warning and damage assessments of earthquakes, volcanoes, floods, cyclones/hurricanes/typhoons, tsunamis, tornadoes, forest fires, dust, lightning, droughts and algal blooms and weather events. Recently, several international organizations, UN, International GNSS Service, and IUGG, have made specific efforts to share geospatial data to benefit people to make Earth as sustainable planet. This session will focus on the state of the research, opportunities to translate research results into application, and approaches to implement remote sensing data as part of a comprehensive and durable hazard mitigation system. Contributions related to GNSS and constellation satellte data, combined with ground observations in mapping, early warning, damage assessments, rescue management and future planning to all kinds of natural hazards are welcome.
