H33F:
Remote Sensing of Rivers and Lakes IV Posters
Submit an Abstract to this Session
Session ID#: 24173
Session Description:
Advances in remote sensing are substantially improving the scientific study of river and lakes at a broad range of scales. Satellite-, airborne- and terrestrial-based remote sensing tools allow unprecedented analysis of river and lake form and process. In addition, four decades of satellite imagery is facilitating new understanding of large-scale variability in these systems. The simultaneous leveraging of space and time afforded by remote sensing is increasingly revealing new ideas about surface water processes (river discharge, lake volume variation and temperature, eutrophication), including response to long-term change. For this session, we solicit abstracts that employ remotely sensed data to study water fluxes, water quality, and morphology of rivers and lakes. This includes the development of new applications of remote sensing in river and lake systems and innovations across sensors and scales.
