Fundamental Rock and Mineral Magnetism II Posters

Session Description:
The intensity and direction of the geomagnetic field is of importance in many parts of the Earth and Planetary Sciences: e.g. magnetostratigraphy, paleomagnetism, archeomagnetism, planetary magnetism and biomagnetism. All these disciplines, however, critically depend on the quality and robustness of the recording and storage of the geomagnetic field in various media. Here we focus on recent advances in the fundamental understanding of processes that govern the acquisition, preservation and alteration of natural remanent magnetizations. Contributions are invited from all areas of mineral and rock magnetism, including modeling studies, experimental results, and fundamental approaches. We explicitly solicit contributions that present direct observations of nano and micro-magnetic processes, and models thereof; and recent studies that focus on acquisition and reliability of the magnetic signal that arises from very small samples such as single crystals, and meteorites.
