Session ID#: 24371
Session Description:
Global seismic monitoring for hazards and nuclear discrimination has access to an ever expanding pool of real-time seismic and acoustic data at local, regional and teleseismic distances. Coupling these data with new real-time acquisition and detection methods and sophisticated association and location procedures ensures unprecedented high-quality catalogs of seismic source parameters to remarkably low magnitude thresholds. The goal of this AGU panel and corresponding poster sessions is to bring together the multiple groups and interested parties addressing this problem in quite different ways to discuss what the technical issues are, strengths and weakness of different approaches, and how these modeling efforts can be assessed in a useful way (what metrics and comparisons are valid, important, and feasible).
