V51E:
Metamorphic Records of Heat and Mass Transfer II Posters

Submit an Abstract to this Session

Session ID#: 24446

Session Description:
Metamorphic rocks provide an important record of the heat and mass transfer processes that form(ed) and modify Earth’s crust. This session welcomes contributions that use data from the metamorphic rock record to investigate crustal heat and mass transfer, and broader implications for tectonic processes. Contributions could explore: 1) crustal chemical budgets and fluxes; 2) fluids in metamorphism; 3) metamorphic heat sources and drivers; 4) crustal pressure–temperature environments, their metamorphic signatures and/or tectonic significance; 5) exhumation, preservation and selectivity in the metamorphic record, and/or 6) secular change, and heat and mass transfer processes through geologic time. Intimate relationships between length and time scales exist for many crustal processes and we particularly encourage contributions that utilize time scales to constrain length scales of crustal processes.
