Data Visualization Technologies in Earth and Space Sciences

Session Description:
Data visualization is a rapidly growing field, offering a wide range of new ways to explore scientific data. The tools and platforms now available for generating scientific visualizations offer many choices with different advantages and disadvantages. Visualization is also a sufficiently general term that it can cover anything from interactive 3-D modeling to a simple 2-D static image, but the issues involved in the design process are the same. We must ensure that the visualizations we develop are accurate, useful, and informative, while taking into account such considerations as ease of use, cost of implementation, data and software compatibility, and user community preferences. This session invites contributions discussing the tools and processes used in generating all kinds of scientific visualizations.
