IN43B:
Can Public Participation Be the Key to Better Understanding Our Planet? Earth Scientists Say, I Posters

Submit an Abstract to this Session

Session ID#: 25043

Session Description:
Citizen science is emerging as a new approach for supporting Earth science research. Innovative use of crowd-sourced data provides opportunities to improve satellite derived products and analyses to improve our understanding of the Earth as a system while simultaneously engaging the public at local, regional, and global scales. Citizen science covers a wide range of topics including the collection and analysis of data by citizen scientists, the development of easily deployed instrumentation, and the development of software applications and websites to increase the community of users who can participate in Earth science research. This session seeks contributions that demonstrate the diversity and application of citizen science projects supporting Earth science by complementing satellite observations and discuss novel methods for the development and deployment of low cost sensors.
