V43B:
Earth Volatile Fluxes Preserved in Fluid and Melt Inclusions II Posters

Submit an Abstract to this Session

Session ID#: 25077

Session Description:
Fluxes of volatiles from mantle to crust and atmosphere are crucial to mantle metasomatism and rheology, magma transport and eruption, and ore genesis. These processes are inherent to Earth’s dynamics and influence volatile cycling. Fluid and melt inclusions directly investigate the chemical speciation and partitioning of volatiles in geodynamically and geochemically significant melts and fluids (C-O-H-S and halogens) as a function of depth, temperature and redox conditions, complementing modeling capabilities for the global volatile budget and cycle. This session solicits contributions on novel and conventional fluid and melt inclusion analysis to study the transport of volatiles/fluids/melts in mantle and crust and their link to the atmosphere.
