The 2nd State of the Carbon Cycle Report (SOCCR-2): A Special Assessment of the Last Decade of Carbon Cycle Science in North America and Adjoining Oceans: Posters

Session Description:
As a contribution to the 4th U.S. National Climate Assessment, the Carbon Cycle Interagency Working Group has led the development of the 2nd State of the Carbon Cycle Report (SOCCR-2) with over 200 scientists from the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. Based on the U.S. Carbon Cycle Science Plan (2011), three overarching focus areas frame SOCCR-2: (i) Impacts of natural processes and human actions on terrestrial, atmospheric and oceanic carbon cycle; (ii) Impacts of policy and management decisions on the levels of CO2 and CH4 in the atmosphere; (iii) Impacts of increasing greenhouse gas concentrations, associated changes in climate, and carbon management decisions on ecosystems and natural resources. Pertinent technical assessments of North American carbon stocks and fluxes in managed and unmanaged systems (land, water, air, interfaces, urban, tribal etc.) and carbon management science perspectives/tools for supporting/informing relevant decisions, as reflected across 19 SOCCR-2 thematic chapters, are highlighted in this session.
