Advanced Plant Phenotyping for Global Food Security: Lessons Across Measurement Scales from Leaf, to Field, to Remote Sensing III Posters

Session Description:
Novel approaches are being developed to quantify agriculturally important plant traits using image based technologies across scales such as high-throughput plant phenotyping platforms. The platforms offer the opportunity to integrate proximal remote sensing of intricate morphological and functional characteristics of plants in the quest to link optical plant characteristics to genomic expression to optimize yields, achieve crop efficiencies, understand resistance to stresses, and develop biomass for bioenergy and other valuable applications.

One of the major challenges associated with this emerging approach is the transferability of traits between measurement scales ranging from chamber and greenhouse based imaging, field towers and UAVs, to aircrafts and satellites. This session is designed to bridge research efforts and techniques across scales into more vertically integrated approaches. We invite speakers from diverse backgrounds and disciplines to share their findings, challenges and potential solutions associated with identification of important optical traits in plants across scales and techniques.
