2017 Fall Meeting

Human responses to global change are as much cultural as they are technological. This session would provide a forum for exploration of the cultural changes, both observed and envisioned, that may help society adapt to a rapidly changing Earth system. Students and early career scientists are encouraged to present on observations of communities around them and experiences in their own communities (scientific, ethnic, etc.), where cultural change has already manifest. Presenters are also encouraged to share hopes for the culture of future communities, ideas about cultures’ effect on climate, and frameworks for scientific culture in the Anthropocene. Questions, historical perspectives, and diverse worldviews will contribute to this session being an honest, productive, and lively experience. Presentations can be a talk, video, song, picture, meme, or any other captivating platform. Talk selections will be guided by a goal of diversity in subject matter and presenter career level.
