Session Description:
Marine-derived aerosol particles, including primary, secondary, and aged particles, are of considerable interest due to their importance in atmospheric chemistry and climate regulation. Marine-derived particles can influence climate directly or interact with continental or polluted emissions affecting their climate impacts. This session solicits recent research results and synthesis papers focused on the production, evolution, and impacts of marine-derived aerosol particles. This includes but is not limited to studies in the composition and sources of organic mass in marine-derived particles, feedbacks between biological productivity in seawater and resulting aerosol chemical composition, air-sea exchange of organic and nutrient material, atmospheric transformations of marine-derived particles, the impacts of marine-derived particles on the regional and global climate, and links between temporal and spatial variations in atmospheric deposition, ocean productivity, and nutrient cycling. Submissions are encouraged that focus on all aspects related to marine aerosols including theoretical investigations, field measurements, computer models, and laboratory studies.
