H11A:
A New Generation of Isotopic, Trace Element, and Noble Gas Tracers of Hydrologic Processes III Posters

Submit an Abstract to this Session

Session ID#: 26345

Session Description:
For decades, stable, radioactive and radiogenic isotopes, trace element and noble gas distributions have been utilized within the hydrologic sciences to quantify subsurface flow paths, sources, residence times and reactive processes. With recent advancements in analytical technology, these characterization methods are now rapidly expanding into novel mid-mass isotopic systems, as well as fostering unique interpretations of traditional tracers. This unprecedented new analytical capability now requires the development of revised interpretation, data analysis, and modeling approaches. These advances are currently fostering new insights into the linkages between surface and subsurface hydrology, ecohydrology, environmental and resource sustainability, nutrient and contaminant hydrology and associated predictive models. In the current session, we invite submissions across a diversity of tracer applications, emphasizing new methods of hydrologic system characterization using isotopic, trace element and noble gas analysis in field systems, laboratory experiments and models.
