Developing Community Forecasting Capabilities on a Global Scale

Session Description:
Forecasting from minutes to weeks is increasingly important to society to support health and infrastructure around the world.  NOAA is leading an unprecedented effort to coordinate the develpment, testing and implementation of a community global model.  This session welcomes presentations which address improvements in environmental prediction, particularly those that involve improving components to complex environmental prediction.  Specifically, improvements in forecasts on land, ice, atmosphere, chemistry, clouds, and aerosols are welcome.  Verification and validation efforts on all aspects of environmental prediction including verification of specific parameterization schemes and ensemble forecasts are welcome.  Presentation on designs of infrastructure for managing community model development, including computer requirements, innovative use of cloud computing, storage, software management are welcome as they support environemntal prediction.
