Session ID#: 26461

Session Description:
Share your experiences and learn from others about models and outcomes of successful initiatives that provide research experiences for college an graduate students, as well as education/outreach programs. Presentations can address the roles of scientists and education experts in implementing research experiences as well as education/outreach efforts. Presentations can focus on designing and implementing research experiences that align with national, state, and/or local reform efforts in science education. Other topics may include recruitment strategies, program sustainability, internet and archival research projects, citizen science, mentoring, student outcomes, evaluation results, and lessons learned from past efforts. Presentations are invited from all scientific disciplines: astronomy, planetary and space science, geology and geophysics, seismology, biogeoscience, atmosphere and ocean sciences, climate and environmental science, etc. The session goal is to provide a balanced perspective in order to inform future post-secondary education/outreach and research initiatives and highlight successful programs. Printed materials and CDs supplied by presenters accompany the session.
