Building Sustained Capacity to Use Earth Observations to Enhance Environmental Management Decisions, Actions, and Policy II Posters

Session Description:
As the usage and utility of geospatial data and scientific information about the Earth has increased, so has the need for knowledge and capability to employ these resources to inform environmental management decisions. In response, this session focuses on capacity building and professional development methods that attempt to bridge the gap between Earth science data and geospatial applications and institutional or individual needs. Needs include water resource management, land use choices and management from day-to-day to longer time scales. Needs by different users and at different geographic scales from local to national to multi-national will be considered. Contributors will explore methods and protocols for enabling and implementing capacity building and professional development efforts in Earth science, and in capturing their impact. Various approaches will be highlighted, along with their effectiveness, challenges, and benefits, providing session participants with a broader understanding of the capacity building community and resources available.
