From Macro to Micro and Back Again: Advances in the Understanding of Terrestrial and Extraterrestrial Magmatic Systems Through Microanalysis I Posters

Session Description:
This session aims to highlight 1) recent advances in microanalytical techniques and, 2) the application of these techniques to our understanding of magmatic systems in both terrestrial and extraterrestrial contexts. The accuracy and precision associated with the quantification of (3D) crystal distributions, combined with elemental and isotopic values at cm, mm, and (sub) μm scales of magmatic components, has been fundamental to advancing our ability to unravel magmatic systems throughout the volcanic and plutonic rock record. We invite novel applications of, and/or new insights from, techniques including (but not limited to): CSD, EDS, WDS, μXRF, μCT, XRD, SEM, EBSD, Raman, FTIR, EPMA, LA-ICPMS, TIMS, SIMS, TEM, FIB, APT, and the synchotron. Studies which integrate (3D) high-resolution microimaging with microanalysis are particularly encouraged.
