PA11C:
Methods for Assessing the Impact and Value of Earth Observations and Geospatial Data for Decision Making
Submit an Abstract to this Session
Session ID#: 26765
Session Description:
Earth observations and geospatial data contribute to societal benefit through improved decision-making, however identifying and quantifying those benefits is challenging. Characterizing the impact of Earth observations and geospatial data on decisions is difficult, which impacts the ability to estimate the value of this information. Accurate estimates of the impact and value of Earth observations and geospatial data allow policy-makers to make informed decisions about the provision and continuity of critical measurements of Earth system processes. The purpose of this session is to identify and compare methods for identifying and quantifying the impact of Earth observations and geospatial data on decisions and determining the value of that information. Methods papers and case studies that address specific applications of Earth observations and geospatial data to decisions by end-users, including governments, researchers, communities, NGOs, and the private sector, are encouraged.
