Browser-Based Mapping, Space-Time Visualization, and Analysis of Big Earth Science Data I Posters

Session Description:
Scientific visualization has been taking an important role in the Earth science community to support data exploration, analysis and discovery of hidden knowledge. The recent advancement of earth observation (EO) technology, i.e. satellite, sensor network, and drones as well as regional/global simulation models, have garnered the production of massive amount of EO data. Although progress has been made in Web- or virtual-globe based visualization, such as NASA’s Worldview and AGI Cesium, innovative ways for visualizing multi-dimensional, multi-variate, time-series big EO data is still urgently desired. In this session, we solicit presentations on novel browser-based solutions for the mapping, visualization and analysis of Earth science data. Topics include but not limited to immersive technology and tools on browser-based data rendering, big data transmission over the Web, spatiotemporal data indexing and representation, visual analytics etc. Applications in all aspects of Earth science, such as oceanography, geology, polar, biology and climate are welcome.
