Session Description:
This session seeks to advance our understanding of ecological drought, flood forecasting, and freshwater, ecosystem and agricultural sustainability through the quantification of changes and uncertainties that constrain water supply assessments as well as flood and drought risk management, particularly in the tropics.
Submissions are invited on topics related to: (i) quantifying current and future changes to drought regimes and the ecological impacts of changing drought exposure, (ii) development of better water, ecosystem, and agricultural management strategies to promote ecosystem services and improve water quality (especially during drought), (iii) quantifying and reducing uncertainty in regional water supply assessments under climate scenarios, land use change and population growth, (iv) resolving complex human-made and natural features in flood forecasting models, with particular attention to the representation of floodplain boundaries for variable flow conditions, and (v) new approaches, techniques, and advancements for improving regional scale sustainability assessments and numerical modeling.
