Shale and Mudstone Multiphysics I Posters

Session Description:
Shale and mudstone behavior impact most efforts in subsurface science and engineering and are a focus of energy surety and security. Hydrocarbon shale plays, long-term storage of carbon dioxide, and disposal of nuclear waste spur much research on coupled processes and constitutive behavior of these fine-grained nano-porous rocks. This Session invites researchers to interact on aspects of multiphysics of shales with emphasis on multi-scale characterization of heterogeneity, constitutive modeling, and performance assessment. This includes but is not limited to: geomechanics and hydrology of fracture networks including leakage mitigation and gas production decline; chemo-mechanical coupling; advancements in in situ characterization methods; seismic wave behavior; and advanced modeling methods.
