PP23A:
Biotic and Climatic Perturbations in the Marine Realm II Posters

Submit an Abstract to this Session

Session ID#: 30547

Session Description:
Extinction events of varying magnitude linked to rapid environmental change characterize numerous intervals throughout the Phanerozoic. A multitude of drivers and subsequent feedbacks have been proposed to have a role in these events. Deciphering the environmental and biogeochemical changes that occurred during these events therefore requires a multi-disciplinary approach. We invite contributions that highlight spatial and temporal variability of mass extinctions, oceanic anoxic events, and other major climatic events during the Paleozoic and Mesozoic. This session focuses on understanding environmental perturbations and biological responses from paleontological, geochemical (including traditional and novel proxies), and/or modeling perspectives. Specifically, we seek integrated research studies that better (de)re-construct local, regional, and global environmental changes during these events from terrestrial and marine records.
