Advances in Atmospheric Data Assimilation and Inverse Modeling I Posters
Submit an Abstract to this Session
Session ID#: 30697
Session Description:
This session focuses on recent and novel development and application of data assimilation (DA) and inverse modeling approaches in atmospheric science, featuring new approaches and applications with new or proposed future measurement systems. We invite contributions related to advances in: 1) efficient operational algorithms (e.g., variational, ensemble, and hybrid approaches) for DA, inversion, and sensitivity analysis; 2) multi-species and/or coupled DA; 3) assimilating ‘big’ data, complex, and/or new observations; 4) characterizing and quantifying model and observation errors and uncertainties; 5) estimating emissions and fluxes of gases and aerosols; 6) development, validation, and inter-comparison of reanalysis products; and 7) Observing System Simulation Experiments (OSSE) including simulation of realistic observations, validation of Nature Runs, and data assimilation experiments using simulated observations.
