A53E:
Large-Scale Atmospheric Dynamics and Chemistry and Their Interactions with Climate I Posters

Session ID#: 30763

Session Description:
Large-scale atmospheric dynamics play an important role in shaping the global distributions of trace gases and their responses to future climate change. Examples in the troposphere include the isentropic transport of midlatitude pollution to the Arctic and the modulation of interhemispheric transport by the Hadley Cell. Stratospheric variability, and the two-way coupling between the stratosphere and troposphere, also play a key role in shaping tropospheric constituent distributions as well as surface weather. In turn, trace gas variability through changes in anthropogenic and natural emissions (e.g. of greenhouse gases, ozone-depleting substances and aerosol precursors) can impact atmospheric dynamics and surface climate through chemistry-climate interactions. Thus, for this session we welcome contributions from observations, models and theory investigating the coupling between atmospheric composition and dynamics and their changes in the past, present, and future.
