Quantifying Tropospheric Ozones Present-Day Distribution and Trends from the Perspective of Human Health, Climate, and Ecosystem Productivity I

Session Description:
Tropospheric ozone is a greenhouse gas and pollutant detrimental to human health and crop and ecosystem productivity. Understanding ozone’s present day distribution and long-term trends is a critical endeavor from a geohealth perspective. This session invites abstracts that shed new light on tropospheric ozone’s present day distribution and trends from the surface to the tropopause, with analysis that describes the relevance of these quantities for human health, climate or ecosystem productivity. Measurement uncertainty, representativeness and observational network design are also important subtopics. Abstracts on all aspects of tropospheric ozone are welcome, including those that use observations and models to address the production, transport and fate of ozone and its chemical precursors; the impact of emission controls on ozone; trends of tropospheric ozone on regional and global scales, both historical and recent; the effects of tropospheric ozone on climate, human health and crop/ecosystem productivity.
