A52D:
Biosphere-Atmosphere Interactions and Atmospheric Chemistry I
Submit an Abstract to this Session
Session ID#: 30856
Session Description:
The exchange of gases and aerosols between the biosphere and the atmosphere plays an important role in the chemistry of the atmosphere, affecting both air quality and climate change. Predictions of the future composition of the atmosphere depend on an accurate understanding of the chemical and physical processes that determine the concentration of trace gases and aerosols, including a detailed knowledge of interactions and feedbacks with the biosphere. This session welcomes experimental and modeling contributions broadly related to recent advances and challenges in our understanding biosphere-atmosphere interactions, including but not limited to emissions of biogenic compounds (e.g., VOCs, nitrogen, and other species), the impact of biogenic emissions on the chemistry of the atmosphere, and the deposition of trace gases and aerosols.
