A51I:
Advances in an Integrated Observing System for Air Quality I

Submit an Abstract to this Session

Session ID#: 30863

Session Description:
Remote sensing data are increasingly used in air quality analysis and prediction. Developments of new satellite instruments and advanced remote sensing techniques are enabling key improvements in spatial, temporal, and vertical characterization of trace gases and aerosols related to air quality. Maximizing the science, applications, and societal benefit from these capabilities requires integration with othermeasurements in advanced modeling frameworks. Presentations on all aspects of this important challenge are invited, including but not limited to:

  • Satellite missions
  • Aerosol and trace gas retrieval advances, e.g. improved vertical resolution, multi-species retrievals, and aerosol/trace gas correlations
  • Fire characterization from space
  • Hyperspectral, multi-angular, and/or polarimetric remote sensing of fires, aerosols, and trace gases
  • Harmonizing data products from multiple platforms/sensors
  • Modeling at finer spatiotemporal resolutions
  • Chemical data assimilation and inverse methods
  • Boundary layer characterization and relationship to near-surface pollution
  • High-density surface observations
  • Air quality field campaigns prototyping these capabilities
  • Air quality applications and demonstrations
